The Impact Of Organizational Politics On Decision Making...

In order to succeed, one does not only have to obtain the knowledge in their field, but one must have the organizational and political skills (Pfeffer, J., 2010). Organizational politics focuses on the use of power to affect decision making and organizational behaviors. The political behaviors are activities that are not required of someone in their formal role, but that influence, or can attempt to influence pros and cons within a company (Robbins Judge, 2012). Unfortunately, these politics can have its downsides. Since a company is made up of different people, with different values, goals, and interests, conflicts may arise from one individual’s gain being an expense for someone else. Money may be able to give you power over things, but it is not the only thing that is able to help you obtain something. Other ways to obtain power is having access to information or by being an influential person. By gaining knowledge, you can obtain the upper hand because you are the one able find the resources and use information that might not be readily available to others. Your knowledge creates a dependence for others because you have something they might not have. This dependence for others because power for the individual only if your knowledge creates an importance to others, is scarce, and is non-substitutable (Robbins Judge, 2012). Having political skills also contributes to obtaining power because it influences others to better their own objectives (Robbins Judge,Show MoreRelatedThe Course Managerial Decision Making For Health Care Organizations952 Words   |  4 PagesIntroduction In the course Managerial Decision Making in Health Care Organizations, students present critical incidents that have happened in healthcare facilities. Virgin In A Tree - 1276 Words

This poem was written in 1958, after Sylvia Plath left her job at Smith College to write for a living. It was during this time she found writing extremely difficult and resorted to set themes and deliberate exercises in style, in her efforts to find a release. The poem is based on a drawing quot; The Virgin in a Treequot; by Paul Klee. Sylvia Plath expresses her feelings about the concept of virginity, virgins etc. She holds their morals and values accountable, for what they believe to be right and what they believe to be wrong. Sylvia Plath uses great many mythical allusions to illustrate her perceptions about virgins, especially in Ancient Greek mythology, many of which have been a direct bearing on the title of the poem; Virgin in a†¦show more content†¦ root to top Unfaced, unformed, the nipple flowers Shrouded to suckle darkness? Part of this, she believes, is in the belief of others that virginity is a sign of purity and holiness; for it is only them that talk tediously in the praise of; virgins for virginitys sake. This is also a significant image in her poem, the religious images that are supposedly to symbolize holiness and purity are employed by Plath as a means of mockery; And put on barks nun-black habit which deflects Who keep cool and holy make A sanctum to attract Green virgins, consecrating limb and lip To chastitys service: like prophets, like preachers, In Plaths point of view, the reason virginity is given the meaning it is today, is due to the fact that virginity is declared sacred and pledged to sexual abstinence in the name of all that is holy. This underlines her faith in a womans role as a partner in marriage, as a wife, mother, daughter especially in a family. She thinks that virginity does not deserve the fame and glory it has, in fact it will ultimately lead to the spoil of a womans soul, how the essence will be destroyed if they are kept prisoners and constricted. Management authorities of any retail business nowadays are not just setting the prices of their products according to the calculation of manufacturing cost and earning revenues from them, which is known as Manufacturer Suggested Retail Price (MSRP). However, they more focused on satisfying a customer first in order to make business relationships with them by transforming as a regular customer. Therefore, the strategies are set up pricing policy of the products are must affordable to the customers, which can make an increment in sales as well. It means the pricing policy must be re-evaluated by giving values to their customers. For examples, the marketers can apply premium rates on selling costs for those items, which are there for one time use like costumes for grooms as gowns for wedding. In the other hand, the authority must apply the discount on the products according to their sales count, otherwise; it can be a cause of boomerang (Alex and Patrick, 2015). One of the most tested method of improve the profitability is continuous evaluation of the total cost of the product individually until it will be handed over to the customer. The retailer must make a reduction as possible without compromising with the quality of the product to maintain the brand image of the organization. When it comes to staff turnover, the authority must recruit staffs as few as possible considering the needs of the company to reduce the staff payment costs. Apart from these, with the addition of consignments the profit of Diva Designs can be improved as having the traditional vendor, they will do sourcing of the items in just a single way to the desired location. However, adding the options for consignment, sending clothes to the outlets from the production firm is much cost effective in nature for the retailer (Courtney and John, 2014). Attracting customers with new deals as occasional offers can increase the sell for Diva Designs, which can increase the profitability. In order to portray a good brand image in the customer customers mind the authority must focus on the issue of on time delivery of the ordered products.
